AUGUST   2017

Below is a summary of the Nursing Community Coalition’s (NCC) activity for the month of August.

Letter to Senate Appropriations Committee

The Steering Committee sent a letter to the full Senate Appropriations Committee urging them to maintain funding for each of the Nursing Workforce Development Programs. The letter expressed the coalition’s deep concern with the House committee’s approach of consolidating certain Title VIII programs and cutting critical investments in them.

New Members of the Administration

On behalf of the NCC, the Steering Committee sent letters to Surgeon General Jerome Adams, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Elinore McCance-Katz, and Assistant Secretary for Aging Lance Allen Robertson congratulating them on their new positions within the Administration and pledging to work with them in the future.

Meetings

The NC held their monthly meeting on August 1, 2017 and was hosted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. There were 39 NC organizations present for the discussion.
